«My brief summer in Los Angeles ended with several parking tickets including one moving traffic ticket violation that cost me several hundred dollars.»
What I didn't know is when I past my deadline to pay for the traffic ticket it cost me even more and now my original fine went up almost 500 percent. One thing that I learned is having a forgetful mind in Los Angeles is going to cost you, they will penalize you for failing to remember. I sort of can't blame them, but wow, this has been an experience.
How did I get into this mess? I had decided to intern for a well-known company in Los Angeles for the summer as does any recent graduate with a college degree would do in order to gain experience for what would be a hopeful well-paying and enjoyable career. It was also a time for me to spend with family I rarely see except at family get-togethers. This was when I actually received my first Los Angeles parking ticket visiting my aunt Lorraine who just so happens to have a residential permits parking requirement on her street.
As the summer went by and my knowledge of working for a large corporation increased my ability to remember to pay for parking tickets seemed to collapse. I was really getting involved with my new style of living and getting used to the corporate culture that seemed to be taking over my very existence and every day life. I actually loved it. I was just too busy to pay attention to any parking citation that was collecting dust in my glove compartment because duty called me and my personal time seemed to be getting less and less by the hour.
Since my license plate was an out of state plate registration and I hadn't thought of changing it for the summer because I knew I was going back home, I didn't think of the letters I was getting from the citation courts informing me of my outstanding parking tickets. They informed me that if I did not pay by a specific date that I would be required to pay a penalty and possibly turning into an outstanding warrant for my arrest.
As the summer rolled by I was enjoying myself and things started to get to the point where I was in charge of my days. No more was I getting used to the every day grind of corporate culture and the daily requirements of my employer. I was used to it. I was finally becoming one of those corporate hopefuls expecting some day I would be a leader in a company. However, that weekend I went out to the beach with some friends and on my way I got a traffic ticket for speeding. Almost immediately I remembered that I had other outstanding tickets that I couldn't quite guess if I had taken care of them or not.
Finally, my summer was over. My internship was completed and I was offered a job back home in the mid-west where I lived. I said goodbye to my new friends and family and set off back home. When I arrived I had lots of mail to read. That was when I opened that official looking letters that said. "Failure to Appear", "Outstanding Warrant for your arrest" and "Unpaid Parking Citations" and "Unpaid Traffic Ticket". It was as if I had never left Los Angeles and they had warned me that my license will be suspended and they will seek me out for any unpaid citations and tickets if I did not pay them at once.
I had to give in. My life was just starting out and my career was just beginning and the last thing I ever want is for me to have an outstanding warrant out for my arrest because I did not pay my traffic ticket in Los Angeles and those parking citations I happened to leave in my glove box. I got my checkbook out to write the checks to pay off my traffic ticket which at this point had increased 400 percent and suddenly I figured out I did not have that much cash to cover the traffic fines. So I searched online and found a company that handled all my traffic tickets and citations. This company is called BobCOP.
The parking citations increased 700 percent and all I could think about was ‘I was still stranded in Los Angeles' and it dawned on me that they had increased their revenue ten-fold better than any bank account would do for them. I left Los Angeles with two experiences.
Being able to pay for my traffic tickets online by credit card saved me since I did not have the cash to cover all the penalties. I will never forget to pay my traffic tickets again, especially in Los Angeles. However, I did have peace-of-mind knowing BobCOP was there to take care of my situation.
